24-hour live video monitoring

Video Monitoring for Properties Nobody Is Watching

When a camera detects a person, our UL-certified video monitoring station looks at the live camera and dispatches police under the response plan we set up with you.

Part of our camera surveillance service.

How it works

A person checks the camera before anyone is sent, so you are not relying on a phone notification you might miss.

Step 1

A camera detects a person

The cameras use real person detection, not simple motion, so passing animals and shadows do not trigger a call.

Step 2

The monitoring station is alerted

A small unit installed on your network sends the alert and live video to the station.

Step 3

An operator looks at the live camera

They confirm what is happening before anyone is dispatched.

Step 4

Police are dispatched under your response plan

The plan is set up with you at installation. You keep receiving your own camera alerts too.

What you get

Live operator verification

An operator at our UL-certified video monitoring station looks at the live camera before acting.

Police dispatch

Operators follow the response plan we set up with you, which includes dispatching police.

Your own alerts continue

Nothing changes on your phone. You still get your own camera alerts as before.

Works on rural internet

Starlink and other rural connections work. Each camera is monitored on its own, straight from the camera.

You choose the cameras

Pick which cameras are monitored. Cameras you leave off still record and send you your own alerts.

Tested before it goes live

Every camera is tested with the monitoring station before service starts.

Who it is for

Built for homes and cottages, watched from the outside with exterior cameras.

Cottages and seasonal homes

Places that sit empty for weeks or months at a time, with nobody nearby to respond to an alert.

Vacant and rural properties

Houses between owners or tenants, and rural properties without a neighbour who could check on things.

Owners with McKee cameras

You already have, or are getting, a camera system from us and want a person to act on a detection instead of a phone notification you might miss.

Video monitoring and alarm monitoring

Video monitoring is separate from your security system monitoring, which responds to the alarm sensors in the house and not to the cameras. Buy either one, or both.

What you need

We handle the cameras, the on-site unit, and the setup with the monitoring station. Service starts once everything is installed and tested.

UniFi Protect exterior cameras

Cameras with person detection that we supply and install. We can add them to your property or build a new system.

Power to the cameras

The cameras and the on-site unit need power, which we plan into the wiring.

An internet connection

Starlink works, as do other rural connections. We can install Starlink if the property has no internet.

Two monitored cameras or more

At least two monitored cameras, up to eight on one unit. A four-camera system can have two, three, or all four monitored.

Questions

How many cameras do I need?

At least two monitored cameras. You choose which ones, and you can start with two and tell us if you want more.

Do I need internet?

Yes. The cameras need power and an internet connection. Starlink and other rural connections work.

What happens when a camera detects someone?

The monitoring station is alerted, an operator looks at the live camera, confirms what is happening, and follows your response plan, which includes dispatching police.

Will I still get alerts myself?

Yes. You keep receiving your own camera alerts.

Can I monitor only some of my cameras?

Yes. Cameras you leave off still record and send you your own alerts.

Is this the same as my alarm monitoring?

No. Video monitoring responds to your cameras. Security system monitoring responds to the alarm sensors in the house. They can be bought separately or together.

Which cameras does it work with?

UniFi Protect cameras that we supply and install. If you have a different camera system, talk to us about what it would take.

How is it billed?

Monthly, in advance, on its own invoice, once your cameras are installed and tested. It is separate from your installation and from security system monitoring.

What does it cost?

It depends on the property and how many cameras you want monitored. We provide a written quote after we talk through your site.

Request a video monitoring quote

Tell us about the property, the cameras you have or want, and how it connects to the internet. We will follow up with a written quote.
